Sleep Diagnostic Center

Sleep Diagnostic CenterThe newly constructed Columbia Regional Hospital Sleep Diagnostic Center is a specialized facility used to diagnose and treat sleeping disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy and various other sleep problems.

A polysomnogram test is used to identify sleep patterns and is administered while the patient sleeps in a comfortable, private lab suite. The sleep study uses sensors to monitor the patient's heart rate, respiration and limb movements.

An oximetry test is also done to test blood oxygen levels. Technicians are available throughout the night to monitor the patient and to provide assistance if necessary. Once completed, the test is scored by a registered polysomnographic technologist and then interpreted by a neurologist board certified in sleep procedures to determine appropriate treatment.
